Description

This super cute French E.T. has quite the story behind it!
This was the very last authorized version. When it was about to go into mass production, the E.T. director Steven Spielberg was apparently dissatisfied with the final look and forced production to stop, even suing the company. This is exactly why this particular E.T. is so incredibly rare and valuable today.
Now that I'm working in the licensed toy business myself, I can really sympathize with the person who designed this toy. He must have been so happy with how this E.T. looked, only for it to be forcibly discontinued.
It's one of my treasures; extremely difficult to find and very uncommon.
The original classic colorway version, with its light blue eyes, is the most iconic and rare!
Some later, self-produced replica versions on the market have dark blue eyes, which raises doubts among serious, older collectors (there are comparison photos; the eyes and height are different. The one on the right is the version we are selling).
The genuine, original vintage piece is taller, and its eyes have a greenish-blue tint. People often mistake the versions for the same toy, not realizing these crucial details. The later replicas are usually a bit shorter in height as well.
